Dodgers Rumors: Jhoan Durán Generating Strong Interest from Dodgers
Twins right-handed relief pitcher Jhoan Durán is expected to be a hot commodity at this year's deadline

ATLANTA, GA— The 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline is a little more than two weeks and some change away, and the rumor mill is starting to overflow.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, the best team in the National League record-wise, are expected to be aggressive at this year’s deadline, per usual, with a World Series or bust attitude in year two of the Ohtani era.
Despite the team sitting atop the National League West by over five games, and just one game behind the Detroit Tigers for the best record overall, some glaring holes must be addressed, and one area is the bullpen.
While the bullpen has some standouts, such as rookie right-handed pitchers Ben Casparius and Jack Dreyer, or Alex Vesia, who has posted a 1.17 ERA since May 30th, there are a few issues as well.
Collectively, the Dodgers’ bullpen has been overworked this season, leading all of baseball in innings pitched at 427.0, forty more than the next closest team, the Chicago White Sox.
Tanner Scott, the 2024 National League All-Star who inked a massive 4-year, $72 million deal with Los Angeles over the winter, leads the league in blown saves with seven and has a 4.09 ERA.
Kirby Yates, who also joined the Dodgers superteam on a 1-year deal, has missed a good chunk of the first half with a hamstring issue and has regressed after his ‘24 renaissance season.
Then you add in the injuries, such as losing super utility arm Evan Phillips for the entire season, Brusdar Graterol, who is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, veteran right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen, who has dealt with a right forearm strain, and flamethrower Michael Kopech, who just underwent knee surgery.
What was once considered a luxury has now become an issue that Andrew Friedman and Co. must address by July 31st, and according to Bob Nightengale, that appears to be the case.
The latest name linked to the Dodgers: Jhoan Durán of the Minnesota Twins.
The Philadelphia Phillies have been extensively scouting Minnesota Twins relievers Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax of the Minnesota Twins, hoping to acquire at least one of them.
The Twins also are drawing strong interest from the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds.
Durán is just the latest arm that has been linked with the Dodgers over the past several weeks, but out of all of them, he would be the golden prize.
So far this season, Durán has been utterly unhittable, posting a 1.66 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and a career-best 284 ERA+. However, what separates Durán from the other even more is his contract.
Durán is under cheap team control for the next two years, entering his second year of arbitration this upcoming offseason.
Pair that control with his dominant season, you’ll get a likely hefty asking price from the Twins, who are just four games back of a postseason spot in a tight American League.
If the Twins opt to become sellers and place Durán on the trade block it’ll likely start a bidding war that the Dodgers have historically avoided in the Andrew Friedman era and with competition set to be stiff with other National League teams such as the Phillies, Los Angeles will do their job and keep tabs on all options.
