According to Los Angeles Dodgers insider and host of Dodger Talk on AM570 Sports David Vassegh, the Los Angeles Dodgers and outfielder Teoscar Hernández.

Vassegh states, “[His] understanding from hearing from people around the league is that Teoscar Hernández is expected to re-sign with the Dodgers.”

Vassegh also elaborates that the Dodgers and Hernández are in the final stages of nailing out a final contract, with the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings just around the corner.

Where this puts the team in regard to Juan Soto‘s free agency remains to be seen. Yesterday, Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of the Athletic reported that the Dodgers were one of the final contenders for the four-time all-star, including offering him a deal worth over $600 million.

Jeff Passan of ESPN also mentioned that the Dodgers were still among the finalists for Soto as of today.

However, if the Dodgers were to ink Hernández to a new multi-year contract, the industry has agreed that this would remove them from any further Juan Soto discussions as they look to add and improve their roster elsewhere.

In his lone year in Dodger Blue, Hernández became a fan favorite and had a career-year hitting .272/.339/.501, a .840 OPS, and a 134 wRC+ while also hitting a career-high in home runs with thirty-three and driving in ninety-nine runs, including a World Series championship.
