The Los Angeles Dodgers’ center fielder, Andy Pages, has encountered a challenging start to the 2025 season, both offensively and defensively. Offensively, Pages is hitting .118 with a .415 OPS, struggling to find consistency at the plate. Defensively, his misjudgment of a fly ball in a recent game against the Philadelphia Phillies contributed to a pivotal moment in the Dodgers’ loss.
Manager Dave Roberts has expressed concerns about Pages’ performance, particularly emphasizing the need to reduce mistakes on the bases. Roberts stated, “As a young player, you still got to play the game the right way… Gotta eliminate those outs on the bases.”
With Pages struggling, attention has shifted to Hyeseong Kim, the 26-year-old Korean infielder who signed a three-year, $12.5 million deal with the Dodgers earlier this year. Kim began the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he’s been given opportunities to play multiple positions while adjusting to Major League pitching. So far, he’s impressed, posting a .273 batting average, a .368 on-base percentage, and an .823 OPS.
Recently, a video surfaced showing Kim in the Triple-A dugout, leading to fan speculation about a potential call-up. While the Dodgers have not made any official announcements, Kim’s versatility and defensive skills could provide the team with additional options as they seek to address current challenges.
As the season progresses, the Dodgers’ management will need to evaluate whether promoting Kim is the appropriate move to bolster the team’s performance. Pages’ development remains a priority, but the team’s immediate needs may necessitate roster adjustments to maintain competitiveness in the league.
