The Dodgers signed a 25 year old Cuban pitcher, Pablo Milan Fernandez to an $8 million Minor League contract.
Other teams, such as the Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers also expressed interest in Fernandez.
Fernandez is a side arm pitcher and throws a curve, slider, changeup, and knuckleball. He will start in the minor leagues. He was used as a reliever but the Dodgers will convert him to a starter.
