The flurry of moves that the Dodgers have made in the last week have been staggering. Another signing that took place on Monday was the signing of free agent pitcher, Brett Anderson. Anderson was signed to an incentive-laden contract with a base salary of $10 million and $ 4 million in incentives. The incentives kick in once an innings pitch threshold is met. At 150 innings, the incentives begin to kick in. If 200 innings are reached the full value of the incentives are awarded to Anderson. The deal has not been officially announced but the deal is awaiting Anderson’s physical.
One knock on Anderson is that he has not been healthy in the last couple of seasons. He sustained multiple injuries throughout his body in his career. He injured his finger, suffered a stress fracture in his foot, suffered a bulging disc in his back, and also underwent Tommy John surgery. He has never pitched over 112 1/3 innings and has never won more than seven games.
