Dodgers Steamroll the Rangers as L.A. Bats Stay Hot

Baseball’s elder statesman, Bartolo Colon, was no match for the Dodger’s offense Tuesday night. The 45-year-old pitcher gave up home runs to Joc Pederson, Max Muncy and Yasiel Puig, and was charged with a total of eight runs after getting the hook in the bottom of the 4th.

The Dodgers continued to score in the 4th and 5th to rout the Rangers 12-5.

Dodgers starting pitcher, Caleb Ferguson, had a slightly better outing in his 2nd MLB start. Perhaps you can attribute the pressure of family, friends and 1st game jitters to his rocky start in Pittsburgh, yet he still looked a bit shaky in Tuesday night’s outing in Los Angeles.

As manager Dave Roberts noted, Ferguson’s fastball command wasn’t there, nor was the change or the curve. Ferguson was pulled in the 4th after 65 pitches.

One of the more interesting highlights of Tuesday’s game was The Big Shift – did you see the vacant lot on the left side of the infield during Joey Gallo’s at bat in the 6th? For all the Dodger’s strategic efforts… Gallo struck out.

After Tuesday’s victory the Dodgers remain three games behind the 1st place Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers face the Rangers again tonight, with Kenta Maeda coming off the DL to face lefty Cole Hamels.

Game time is 7:10 pm, PST.
