Dodgers vs. Royals Recap: Stars Shine Bright as Dodgers Shut Out Royals in Rare Evening Game
Spring Training Game 14, 3/6/2026: Dodgers 6, Royals 0

CAMELBACK RANCH, AZ — Okay, with Team USA playing their opening game in Houston on Friday night, the Dodgers and Royals might not have exactly been appointment viewing for most baseball fans tonight, but like with Team USA, the stars came out in this rare evening game and the Dodgers beat the visiting Kansas City Royals by a score of 6-0.
Dodgers Take Control in the First
A lot of the scoring came very early. The first inning to be exact. After Ryder Ryan pitched a scoreless frame to start the ballgame, the Dodgers wasted little time getting things rolling. Miguel Rojas led off with a single and stole second (you read that right). Freddie Freeman, only playing in home games this spring, dug in to hit second. He ripped a single that scored Rojas and a handful of pitches into the game the Dodgers were on the board. Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez followed up with back-to-back doubles and in the blink of an eye it was 3-0 Dodgers.
In all, the regulars had great games in this one. Rojas went 3-for3. Freddie Freeman was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Teo had a three hit night, and Betts went 1-for-3 with the run-scoring double.
Pitching locks down win
However, equally as impressive in this win was the Dodger pitching staff, which limited the Royals hitters to just three hits on the night en route to the shutout. After Ryder Ryan, it was the usual spring train of guys getting in work and prospect looking to make names for themselves. Names of note include Will Klein, Tanner Scott, and Edgardo Henriquez, who each pitched scoreless frames in pursuit of the victory.
Quite the difference from Thursday’s game with the Reds, which resembled a track meet on both sides.
Spring Training rolls on on Saturday with a home game against the Rockies right here at Camelback. We’ll see if they’ve recovered yet from the ass-whuppin’ they got from Team USA the other day. The struggling Landon Knack will open for the Dodgers. I’m sure he’s hoping to deflate that 16.20 ERA a bit in this one. Just be happy the games not at Coors. Game time is back to 12:05 PST. See you then!
