NLCS Preview: Glasnow Looks to Continue Postseason Success in NLCS Game Three

National League Championship Series: Series Dodgers Lead 2-0

LOS ANGELES, CA—The 2025 National League Championship Series returns to Chavez Ravine, as the Los Angeles Dodgers look to take a commanding three-game lead in the best-of-seven series.

It’s been a story of pitching for the Dodgers this October, and that was no different in the first two games of the NLCS.

In Game One, Blake Snell pitched one of the best starts in Dodgers postseason history, tossing eight innings while facing the minimum, the first pitcher to do that since Don Larson’s perfect game back in 1956.

Right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto would follow that up with the first complete game by a starting pitcher in over eight years, with the last coming in the 2017 American League Championship Series by veteran right-hander Justin Verlander.

This was also the Dodgers’ first complete postseason game since Game Three of the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004, and the first in the NLCS since Dodger great Orel Hershiser in 1988, who accomplished the feat three times that October.

So far, this series has played to that “David vs. Goliath” narrative as the mighty Dodgers have dominated in all senses of the field, playing good defense, hitting for power, pitching, and looking like a team on a mission, while on the other side, the Brewers looked flat in Game Two.

The Dodgers already have a chokehold in the series. Today, they’ll look to continue that pitching dominance with right-hander Tyler Glasnow on the mound, and tomorrow, they’ll send two-way superstar and three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani on the mound.

The Brewers, on the other hand, don’t even have a concrete game plan for Game Three or Four, pitching-wise. Brewers manager Pat Murphy stated the team was still deciding who they would start and who would pitch the bulk of the innings.

Only a handful of teams that lost the first two games of the NLCS at home have come back to win the series, but if the Dodgers can win today, only one team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit.

Pitching Probables

Tyler Glasnow (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs TBD (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

On the bump for the Dodgers will be right-hander Tyler Glasnow, who looked unhittable in his last start during Game Four of the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Still, Glasnow has been a bit of a wild card throughout his career, and he’ll be facing a team with not much swing and miss in their game or chase, which could cause him trouble.

However, Glasnow looks to continue his postseason career rebound and challenge himself to pitch better or just as good as Snell and Yamamoto did in the first two games.

In his career, Glasnow has a record of 0-3 with an ERA of 4.55 and thirty-seven strikeouts in nine appearances against the Brewers, but he has only allowed one run in eleven innings pitched across two starts this season.

As for the Brewers, their pitching plan today is a mystery, but expect either José Quintana or Jacob Misiorowski to pitch the bulk innings out of the bullpen today, with a likely left-hander to open the game.

Who to Watch

My player to watch is an easy one, and that’s because we all want to see him get going, and that’s Shohei Ohtani.

It has not been the best postseason for Ohtani this year, as the left-handed slugger is just 5-for-34 this October, with his only impact coming in Game One of the Wild Card Series, where he slugged two home runs.

Ohtani was seen taking on-field batting practice yesterday, which is a rare sight, indicating he’s searching for answers. Although the results aren’t there yet, in Game Two, his at-bat quality improved significantly, with one of his outs coming with a 100-plus exit velocity.

Where to Watch

The 2025 National League Championship Series will be aired exclusively on TBS, truTV, and HBO Max at 3:08 PM PT (6:08 PM ET)

Betting Odds

The Brewers aim to prevent falling behind 3-0 after losing the first two games of the series. The Dodgers are favored with odds of -193, whereas the underdog Brewers have +159 odds. Los Angeles is also the favorite on the run line at -1.5 with +112 odds. The total runs over/under is set at 7.5.
