You remember “Puig Your Friend” right Dodger fans? Yasiel Puig was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2013 to 2018 until the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to ship Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp and Alex Wood to Cincinnati in exchange for right hander Homer. Things have been a bit rocky for “The Wild Horse” since he left L.A. First he once again was involved in a blockbuster trade; this time from Cincinnati to Cleveland in a 3 team trade that involved the Reds, Indians and Padres. That trade actually included Trevor Bauer who I think you might have heard of… maybe.
Then, the Cleveland Indians decided Puig was not what they had hoped so they ultimately ended up letting “The Wild Horse” go in the offseason. In 2020 Yasiel was close to signing with the Atlanta Braves but then was diagnosed with Covid and that hindered his opportunity.
Now, Yasiel Puig is faced with yet another unfortunate circumstance where the former Dodger is being sued for an alleged sexual assault that happened during a Lakers game at Staples Center.
On Tuesday, The Wild Horse broke his silence issuing a statement through his legal team:
In the statement, Yasiel Puig denies the allegations:
I am speaking out now to defend my name against false and malicious allegations by a woman who claims I assaulted her in 2018.
Also in the statement, Yasiel details his side of the story while Alan Jackson (Puig’s legal team) also spoke up for the Cuban star:
The evidence we have accumulated is overwhelming and it confirms that the allegations are untrue and this is nothing more than an attempt to use the legal system to coerce money from a high-profile athlete.
