Dodgers Avoid Sweep in Win Over the Rockies
The Dodgers avoided a sweep Sunday at home, beating the Rockies 6-4.
L.A. took the lead early in the game, with Matt Kemp getting a ground-out RBI in the 1st to score Chris Taylor. But Colorado answered back in similar fashion and in short order, with Ian Desmond grounding out in the 2nd to score Carlos Gonzales.

Colorado got ahead in the middle innings but a perhaps-no-longer-slumping Matt Kemp managed 4 RBIs over the game along with a tie-breaking home run in the 8th.
Yasiel Puig flashed his cleats during the 8th to put the Dodgers up 6-4 with a little shimmy-step and some head’s up base running. Rockies 2nd baseman DJ LaMahieu took a bit too long flipping the ball in from short right after a hit from Joc Pederson, and the Wild Horse took advantage, beating the throw home from first to get the final run of the game.
Kenley Jansen shut it down in the 9th to secure the Dodger’s victory and end a 3-game losing streak.
The Dodgers continue their homestand Monday, with Alex Wood set to take the mound against Pittsburgh.
Game time is 7:10 pm, PST.
