There’s much that can be said about Monday’s match-up against Pittsburgh… and for the Pirates, embarrassing is the first thing that comes to mind.

The Dodgers were relentless, getting 17 runs on 21 hits to include dingers from Joc Pederson, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger and Matt Kemp.

The Dodgers scored their first two runs on some decidedly little league errors by Pirates starter Nick Kingham in the first (missed catch covering first on a soft ground ball from Bellinger and a missed throw from the catcher between pitches later that inning that allowed Bellinger to scoot home from third.)

Elias Diaz got the Pirates lone run on a homer off Alex Wood in the second.

Bellinger answered back by going yard in the third and the Dodger’s bats were relentless for the rest of the game. A few noteworthy facts from Monday’s evisceration of the Pirates:

  • Matt Kemp went 5 for 5 and has now gone 8 for his last 8.
  • The Dodgers have hit 60 home runs in their last 28 games.
  • L.A. batted around in three consecutive innings Monday night (fourth, fifth and sixth) to score a total of 13 runs during those innings.

The final score was 17-1.

The teams face off again tonight, with Clayton Kershaw taking the mound for Los Angeles. Game time is 7:10 pm, PST.
