Dodgers Drop Game to A’s, Fall Behind Diamondbacks in NL West Race

The Dodgers fell to the A’s Wednesday night, slipping out of first in the tight race for the NL West. First place has shuffled back and forth between the D-Backs and Dodgers for weeks, neither team being able to crack more than a 1.5 game lead.

Wednesday night’s matchup was scoreless into the fourth until Khris Davis scored on a Stephen Piscotty single to center. Mark Canha scored to bring the A’s up 2-0 in the same inning.

The Dodgers came back on a Yasmani Grandal bomb in the fifth and tied up the game in the seventh with a Cody Bellinger single to score Chris Taylor.

A missed catch in the eighth by Grandal allowed Marcus Semien to score in what ended up being the difference.

The Dodgers lost, 3-2.

The Dodgers head to the Pitcher’s Paradise of Coors Field today to face the Rockies for four and return to Los Angeles next week to face the Giants.

Yours truly will be on a brief hiatus this weekend and next week, but watch for my live tweets from Safeco Field as the Dodgers face the Mariners next weekend.
