UPDATE:
Jeff Passan with a Major Update

About a month ago many Dodger fans were wondering and asking themselves “Will Mookie Betts even play a game for the Dodgers?” Well on the eve of the 2020 MLB season Mookie Betts may have just become a Dodger for life.

Earlier Lou Merloni from WEEI Radio reported that Betts was in negotiations on a Super Mega Deal with the Dodgers. A bit later it was confirmed by Baseball Insider Jeff Passan.

As of right now the 2018 AL MVP looks to be signing a 13-year deal worth over 380 million dollars. That would make it the second-largest deal in MLB history only behind the guy who plays in Orange County. Yes, that’s Mike Trout.

After falling in the NLDS to the Washington Nationals the front office understood that a change needed to make made. They missed out on many key free agents this past off-season, such as Anthony Rendon, Stephen Strasburg, Gerrit Cole, and even Madison Bumgarner. We even heard rumors of a trade with Indians shortstop Franciso Lindor. Eventually, it all worked out though. Dodgers made the big trade to get Mookie and so far in summer camp or spring training 2.0 the trade has worked in the Dodgers favor. Crushing almost every ball he sees, becoming the main leadoff hitter in the already stacked lineup, and helping Ross Stripling hide his pitches better. If his performance during summer camp is any indication what the next 13 years will be then we might have another Dodger legend in the making.
