It’s time for Drive-in Baseball…

As we get closer to the start of the 2020 MLB season it is becoming more certain that fans will likely not be allowed inside stadiums to watch games here in Los Angeles or California. The Dodgers did start sending out emails today that they will be having Fan cutouts that will be placed within the stadium, but thats a topic for another post.

A few weeks ago we had a follower on twitter Roger Schill suggest to us that Dodgers should do a drive-in for fans to watch games. The more we thought about it, we loved it and started sharing the idea with our followers on social media. The overwhelming response is that fans love the idea. We even ran the idea by Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood.

As you can see Alex thinks it’s a pretty genius idea. So we continued tweeting about it. The Sedano show on ESPN Los Angeles had Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts on a few days later and they asked him about the Drive-in idea.

You can add Dave Roberts on being all in for Drive-in Baseball as well. So we decided it’s time to make sure the Dodgers know about this idea and to see if it was even a possibility. We know it is because There have been many places showing old movies and even concerts in the drive-in format. One local place has been the Rose Bowl, they are showing old movies. We know if the Rose Bowl is doing it this is definitely something the Dodgers can do. We contacted a few people within the Dodgers organization and they said that they were discussing many ideas on how fans can be involved this season. That seemed like it was a positive but wanted to run the idea by someone else.

The day the Dodgers reported Stan Kasten spoke to the media regarding a variety of topics. He didn’t mention this but did discuss fans being allowed at games and said it all came down to what the city was allowing. We didn’t get a chance to ask him about it so we sent him an email. to which he did respond.

Yes, we are in discussions on a number of projects just Like that. Nothing to announce yet

Stan Kasten on possibility of Dodgers Drive-in

I know this is something that can be done they just need to figure things out logistically. There would have to be a limit of cars. How will restrooms be available? More than likely it will be a portable option. There can be concessions open while still keeping social distancing and other safety protocols.

This idea isn’t for everyone, I know there are those that would rather stay home and watch from their couch and that is fine. This is for fans that want to try something different this year when we wont likely have the chance to be in the stadium. Imagine a game winning Walk off and the crowd erupts in cheers and horn honking. Im sure the players will hear it and and be pretty cool to them.

I am pretty sure we will see this done bu someone if its not the Dodgers. Today the LA Galaxy did it and had Drive-in Futbol.

It looks like it was a great time by all and I can only look forward to seeing baseball do this, more importantly seeing the Dodgers do this. Dome on Dodgers, Let’s do this!
