GAME 29, 4/27/2024 : Dodgers 4, Blue Jays 2

TORONTO, CANADA — The Los Angeles Dodgers were looking to keep their momentum going as Friday they shook the Blue Jays with their relentless offensive performance to take game one of the series and look to extend their win streak to six straight games in game two.

The Dodgers handed the ball to flame-throwing ace Tyler Glasnow, who is coming off his best start of the season, going eight scoreless innings and striking out 10 Mets last Sunday.

The Blue Jays looked towards right-hander Yusei Kikuchi to break their four-game skid. Kikuchi is 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA in the early campaign.

The Dodgers continued their offensive production from Friday night as a leadoff triple by Mookie Betts set the table for a sacrifice fly that was hit by Freddie Freeman to put the first run on the board.

Back-to-back singles by Kike Hernandez and Andy Pages set the motion for a struggling Chris Taylor to slash a much-needed RBI single to extend the Dodgers lead by two in the second.

Shohei Ohtani continued to silence Jays fans with a 119.2 mph RBI single off the bat to right field and extended the Dodgers lead to three.

Betts tacked on the last bit of insurance by way of an RBI single in the fourth, which extended the lead by four.

Tyler Glasnow had another stellar performance on the mound, going six strong innings and striking out nine. He gave up one blemish run at the start of the seventh inning, giving up an RBI double to Davis Schneider, but would leave the seventh without recording an out due to a hand cramp on his throwing hand.

The Dodger bullpen took over as Joe Kelly, Ryan Braiser and Evan Phillips picked up the last nine outs to close out Toronto. Phillips did give up an RBI single to Cavan Biggio in the ninth, but they secured not only the series win but their sixth straight win overall.

The Dodgers are now 18-11 and will look for the series sweep against Toronto and their seventh straight win overall at 10:37 PM PT. The Dodgers will most likely initiate a bullpen game tomorrow and the Blue Jays will send right-hander Kevin Gausman.
