Dodgers News: Heaney to IL

ATLANTA, GA — In the latest blow to the Dodgers’ pitching staff, it was announced today that left-handed starter Andrew Heaney would be returning to the IL after just one start back in the rotation.

So far in 2022, in very limited action, Heaney’s been terrific, boasting an ERA of 0.59 over three starts. In 15 innings of work, Heaney has struck out an impressive 23 hitters, and posted a fantastic WHIP of 0.85.

In the wake of Walker Buehler going on the IL for a more extended stay, it was hoped that Heaney could at least fill out the five-man rotation until Buehler could return. That is very much in doubt right now.

The Dodgers are calling the injury “shoulder inflammation,” which is more or less the same injury that landed him on the IL in April. Who knows how long he could be down. In his stead, Reyes Moronta was called up from OKC, but look for Mitch White to join the club before too long. In the meantime, I’m sure Andrew Friedman is working the phones. Stay tuned.
