Injured list/potential returns

The Dodgers already added several arms to the 10-day IL before the Korea Series last week. In the bullpen, Brusdar Graterol and Blake Treinen will miss the start of the season.

Treinen is still recovering from a comebacker that hit him in the ribs during a spring training game against the Texas Rangers on March 9. While nothing was broken, the Dodgers listed the IL stint as a bruised lung.

Graterol only made one appearance during Dodgers Cactus League play and has been sidelined with shoulder inflammation since March 2. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts initially stated that Graterol would be available by domestic Opening Day, but they decided to opt for an IL stint instead.

In the starting rotation, Dodgers right-handed starters Walker Buehler and Emmet Sheehan will each start the season on the IL, and both are expected to be delayed about a month.

Buehler was announced to be on a delayed start at the beginning of Spring Training and will likely go on a rehab assignment when the Minor League season starts.

Sheehan’s progress has been steady and encouraging. He began throwing again this past week, and while he’s still building up his arm, we can expect to see him back in action around April, bolstering the team’s strength.

On the 60-day IL, the Dodgers have already placed Clayton KershawDustin May, and Tony Gonsolin as they recover from their surgeries.

The Dodgers will have a few decisions to make when Buehler, Sheehan, Treinen, and Graterol are ready to be activated off IL, and it will depend on how Gavin Stone and others in the bullpen are performing or who has the most options.
