Dodgers News: Taylor Climbs in All-Star Vote

LOS ANGELES — Major League Baseball released its updated All-Star totals on Monday morning and there is good news for CT3. He is now fifth among NL outfielders, just trailing teammate Mookie Betts. In the last round of voting, Taylor was in sixth place, so in the last week he has moved past Nats phenom Juan Soto.

To be honest, cracking the top three is going to be a tall order. There are three MVP candidates ahead of Taylor and Betts in the voting. Ronald Acuna Jr. is in first place, followed by hard-hitting Reds corner outfielders Jesse Winker and Nick Castellanos. So even if Taylor makes it to the next round, he will probably not be going via fan vote.

Infielders getting support all around the horn

The rest of the Dodgers remain pretty much the same as last week’s positions. Max Muncy is still the leading candidate at first base, and should be able to add some votes once he returns to the lineup later this week. Justin Turner, Corey Seager, and Gavin Lux are all in third place currently in the fan voting, and probably don’t figure to move up much higher than that this round.

Both Justin Turner (R) and Corey Seager are currently third in the fan voting.

Smith in a tight race for third

As far as Will Smith goes, he is currently running out of the money, just behind Wilson Contreras of the Cubs. Some local voting might be able to send the Fresh Prince into the final round of voting.

Dodger pitchers figure to be Colorado bound

Of course the strength of the Dodgers is their pitching, and fans still don’t vote for their pitching favorites. However, if I were putting together an All-Star pitching staff, it would be hard not to include Trevor Bauer, Walker Buehler, and Kenley Jansen. The decision on that belongs to All-Star manager Dave Roberts, so there should be at least a couple of those names on the final roster.

One week to go!

The final Phase 1 results will be announced on Sunday, June 27, at noon ET on the 2021 Google MLB All-Star Ballot Finalists Show on MLB Network. Phase 2 will last for four days, concluding on Thursday, July 1, at 2 p.m. ET. Later that night, the starting teams will be announced at 9 p.m. ET on the 2021 Google MLB All-Star Starters Reveal on ESPN.

With close races at every position, there’s still time to ensure that your favorite Dodgers make it to the next phase. Fans can cast their votes exclusively online and via mobile devices at MLB.com, all 30 club websites, the MLB At Bat and MLB Ballpark mobile apps and on Google Search in the U.S. and Canada until the voting period for Phase 1 concludes at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 24. Let’s keep Max in first and push CT3 to the front of the line. Go Dodgers!
