Dodgers News: Trevor Bauer, “It’s hard to hit in the big leagues… a guy should celebrate and I’m all for it!”

These battles between the Dodgers and Padres so far have not disappointed. Sure the Dodgers have lost a couple of games and were also in a bit of a hitters slump… you still can’t deny that these games between these two club have not been exciting and full of drama!

Saturday at the Ravine was no different with Trevor Bauer getting the call for the “Boys in Blue” and the Padres clearly wanted to get his attention. If you can recall, during one the this year’s spring training games vs San Diego, Trevor Bauer pitched the first inning mostly with one eye and Saturday Fernando Tatis Jr. made sure to let Trevor know he still remembered by covering one eye after his solo homerun off of him in first inning.

Trevor Bauer spoke with the media after the game to give his thoughts on that moment and in true Trevor Bauer fashion he did not disappoint with his answer!

I want to say something about that because I think it is important. He did it in the first, I didn’t see it because I was paying attention to doing my job and then he did it again when he homered off me later in the game, their dugout was doing it and I like it. I think that pitchers that have that done to them and react by throwing at people or get upset and hitting people or whatever. I think it’s pretty soft, if you give up a homer a guy should celebrate it; it’s hard to hit in the big leagues. So I’m all for it and I think that it’s important that the game moves in that direction and that we stop throwing at people because they celebrated some success on the field.

Trevor continued:

That’s what it is to be a competitor, I’m going to go at you and I’m going to get you sometimes and you’re going to get me sometimes. We can have fun and we can celebrate it while we’re still competing at the highest level. I just thought that was an important note tonight.

Do you agree with Trevor or disagree? You can watch his full response below:

Last game of this 4 game series vs. the Padres is Sunday at 4p, Joe Musgrove gets the start for San Diego and Dustin May will get the ball for Los Angeles, will we see another nail biter tonight? We can only hope!
