Who’s in & who’s out?
The Blue Jays will be without defensive guru Kevin Kiermaier as he was placed on the 15-day IL on April 24 due to left hip flexor inflammation. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays recalled No. 6 prospect Addison Barger, who typically bounces between third base and right field but made his first professional appearance in left field in his MLB debut Wednesday.
Toronto will continue to be without right-handed pitcher and former all-star Alek Manoah, who is still on a rehab assignment in Triple-A Buffalo.
The Blue Jays also placed right-handed relief pitcher Chad Green on the IL on April 20 (retroactive to April 17) after he reported not feeling great following a throwing session and underwent an MRI.
As for the Dodgers will continue to be without Brusdar Graterol, who Dave Roberts mentioned during the Nationals series that the right-handed bullpen arm has been shut down from throwing. Graterol’s timetable remains uncertain.
Also confirmed in the Nationals series is that left-handed hitting outfielder Jason Heyward is “a ways away” from returning and would still need a rehab assignment before he returns to the 26-man roster.
The Dodgers will continue without Blake Treinen, Kyle Hurt, Bobby Miller, and Walker Buehler for this road trip. Buehler did finish his most recent rehab start by pitching four innings while allowing seven hits, two walks, two earned runs, and five strikeouts on 86 pitches.
