Game 36, 5/5/2024 : Dodgers 5, Braves 1

Chavez Ravine, CA — Happy Cinco de Mayo Dodger fans! The Dodgers were looking for the sweep against their fellow NL juggernaut in the east.

After a Mookie Betts walk to start their top half of the first, Shohei Ohtani capitalized on a Max Fried curve ball to launch his 9th home run of the season.

Teoscar Hernandez followed suit with his own two-run shot in the sixth to extend the lead by four.

In the next inning, Hernandez showed off his arm by throwing out Matt Olson at second and a tailor-made tag was performed by Mookie Betts. Marcell Ozuna quickly silenced Dodger fans by hitting his 10th homer of the year to put the Braves on the board.

Paxton had the longest outing of his season as he went 6.2 innings while striking out three and allowing one run on five hits.

The big news of the day was the return of Blake Treinen, who missed all of last season and is one of the key pieces to this bullpen. It was like he never left as he pitched a perfect eighth inning in his return.

The mythical unicorn Ohtani struck again as he hit his second home run of the game (464 feet) in the eighth to tie along with Ozuna on top of the MLB lead with 10.

Michael Grove shut out the Braves in the ninth in order to complete the sweep of this early anticipated series.

With this win, Los Angeles has won 11 of 13 games.

The Dodgers will look to keep on rolling as the Marlins come to town for a three-game series starting Monday at 7:10 PM PT. The long-awaited return of Walker Buehler will highlight game one as he takes the mound in over two years.
