After Friday nigh’s bumbling, walk-off loss to the Angels, the Dodgers made atonement on Saturday.
Unlike Friday, the Dodgers were able to capitalize on the starting pitcher Ross Stripling‘s solid outing, holding the Angels to one run off a Mike Trout solo shot in the 6th. Stripling continues to shine in his conversion to a starter, now sporting a 7-2 record with a 2.22 ERA. Stripling, like several other Dodgers, is making a solid case to play for the NL All Star team.
And talking again to atonement, closer Kenley Jansen came in and did what he couldn’t Friday, getting his 24th save and striking out two to finish off the Angels.
With the Dodger’s propensity to go long, the high-nineties and triple digit heat should have made conditions ripe for numerous dingers. Yet Yasiel Puig hit the lone HR for the Dodgers, getting his 10th of the year in the ninth.
The Dodgers won 3-1.
The Freeway Series wraps today in Anaheim. Game time is 5:05 pm, PST.
