Dodgers Take Series From Braves; Break Up No Hitter in Loss (While Wearing Uniforms)

The Dodgers dropped the 4th game of the series against the Braves Sunday, but regardless of the loss, it still may have felt like a minor victory. The Braves had shut down the Dodgers into the ninth inning and pitcher Sean Newcomb was one strike away from sitting Chris Taylor down to end the game.

Taylor wouldn’t go quietly.

Not only did Taylor single into left, Manny Machado subsequently drove Taylor in to get the Dodgers on the board and avoid a shutout. The Dodgers lost 4-1.

The Dodgers kept Atlanta cornered for the first three games of the series, and finished off a winning road trip, 6-4.

The flap over batting practice attire, which blew up on Twitter and brought about a swift rebuke against Braves announcer Joe Simpson was “water under the bridge” according to manager Dave Roberts. Simpson apparently had a conversation with Chase Utley (who drew the bulk of the criticism) and apparently the issue was put to rest.

Buy hey kids, for future reference, it might be a good idea to stay off Joe Simpson’s lawn.

The Dodgers return to Los Angeles today to face the Brewers for four. Game time tonight is 7:10 pm, PST.

The sloppy Atlanta defense certainly helped, but a dominating performance from Rich Hill and hot Dodger bats led to a smooth victory in Atlanta Thursday.
