Dozier Dazzles in Debut; Yaz Homers For Walk Off Win in the 10th

Is the nap over? Dodger’s bat didn’t exactly bound out of bed Wednesday night, it was more like a cat waking up, taking a long stretch accompanied by a bleary-eyed yawn. Let’s just hope they don’t go back to bed.

Milwaukee got on the board early, as things didn’t start off so hot for newest Dodger Brian Dozier. His throwing error allowed Lorenzo Cain to score following his triple in the top of the first. A wild pitch by Rich Hill in the third allowed a 2nd run to score.

Dozier more than made up for his early error.

The Dodgers got back to back homers from Yasmani Grandal and Dozier in the fifth to tie the game, and Dozier came up a triple shy of the cycle overall, taking a curtain call in his first game in a Dodger’s uniform.

Although Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger and Enrique Hernandez are still struggling at the plate, Matt Kemp snapped an 0-for-26 slump, leading off the 10th with a single and the game tied 4-4.

Milwaukee had tied it up in the eighth on a double from Mike Moustakas and a single from Manny Pina, and the game remained 4-4 into the 10th. Following Kemp’s lead-off single, Grandal went long to right off Matt Albers to get the walk-off win.

The Dodgers won, 6-4.

L.A. looks to split the series in the final game tonight. Game time is 6:00 pm, PST.

Despite all the hype around the trade deadline and newly acquired reliever (John Axford) and infielder (Brian Dozier), the Dodgers dropped the 2nd game of the series with the Brewers Tuesday night.
