Dodgers Drop 2nd Game to Brewers, Fall to 2nd Place

Despite all the hype around the trade deadline and newly acquired reliever (John Axford) and infielder (Brian Dozier), the Dodgers dropped the 2nd game of the series with the Brewers Tuesday night.

Starting pitcher Walker Buehler put up great numbers, going seven innings while giving up just one run on five hits and striking out seven. He issued no walks.

The Dodgers offense was non-existent though, the closest thing to a run coming off a near-long ball from Cody Bellinger in the seventh. Brewer’s centerfielder Lorenzo Cain snagged the ball at the top of the fence, robbing the Dodgers of a tying run.

The Dodgers lost, 1-0.

Although his numbers aren’t phenomenal (.224 so far this season with an OPS of .708) the Dodgers hope the addition of Dozier will add a spark to the flat offense, especially against lefties.

“You’ll get 100 percent from me,” said Dozier on joining the Dodgers, “off the bench, playing every day, whatever the case may be.”

The Dodgers face the Brewers for two more, with Rich Hill taking the mound for Los Angeles Wednesday.

Game time tonight is 7:10 pm, PST.

Is the nap over? Dodger’s bat didn’t exactly bound out of bed Wednesday night, it was more like a cat waking up, taking a long stretch accompanied by a bleary-eyed yawn.
