Dodgers Win Final Game of World Series Rematch

The Dodgers dropped the first two games of the series against the reigning world champions but came back Sunday to hold on for a 3-2 victory. The win had a sense of urgency behind it after dropping Saturday’s game in a 14-0 rout and falling into 2nd place.

L.A. is currently tied with Arizona for first.

Hits from Brian Dozier and Cody Bellinger in the first and third innings got the Dodgers their only runs, enough to hold the Astros and avoid the sweep. Starting pitcher Walker Buehler went 5 1/3 innings and struck out eight. Buehler’s first pitch of the game ended up over the centerfield fence as George Springer homered to start the game. That and another long ball from Tony Kemp were the only Houston runs.

L.A. has faced all top-caliber teams since the All Star break, and the schedule doesn’t let up any time soon. They travel to Oakland to face the A’s for two before heading back to sprawling Coors Field for four games with Colorado. The Rockies are currently two games out of first, with San Francisco sitting in third and five games out.

Game time Tuesday against Oakland is 7:05 pm, PST.
