Andre Lipcius finished his junior year at the University of Tennessee playing third base and leading the team with 17 homeruns, 58RBI’s, .306 average, and a team-leading 72 hits before being the 83rd overall pick in the 2019 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers.
In September of 2023, Lipcius was called up to the Tigers for his first major league start. Lipcius made his debut as the DH and his first at-bat, he hit a homerun off Mike Clevinger. In 13 games with the Tigers, he hit .286/.342/.400 with one homerun and four RBI.
On March 4, 2024, Andre Lipcius was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations and was designated to the Dodgers Triple-A Oklahoma City Baseball Club.
Since coming to the Dodgers organization, Lipcius has proven to be a good trade pickup. In 94 AB, Lipcius has 29H / 8HR / 21RBI / 4SB / .309AVG / .356OBP / .973OPS. The question is where does he fit in with the Dodgers? Lipcius has played multiple positions in his short time with OKC. He has started at first base and has performed really well at second base. With Gavin Lux making big improvements at second base, does Lipcius make sense at third base?
