Sweep! Dodgers Finish Off the Mets in Extras

The Dodgers swept the Mets Sunday in extras, with Justin Turner‘s solo shot being the difference in the 11th. L.A. bested New York in the final game of the series, winning 8-7.

Long balls and grand slams were on order all weekend, and the Dodgers tied a franchise record of seven HRs in a single game Sunday. They were also the first team since the 2006 Atlanta Braves to get seven solo shots in a single game.

The Dodgers continue to look fierce, going 25-9 since May 16th while trailing the D-Backs just 2.5 games for 1st in the NL west.

L.A.’s pitching staff continues pulling the band-aids off:  Clayton Kershaw got his first start since coming off the DL and went into the fourth Saturday against New York. The Dodgers took the series game, 8-3.

Kenta Maeda opens a four-game home-stand with the Chicago Cubs on Monday. Game time is 7:10 pm, PST in Los Angeles.
