Well, that didn’t quite happen now did it?

The Dodgers not only came back and took the lead in short order, kicked off by a 2-run shot from Austin Barnes in the third who’s currently batting just .207, they routed the Mets with an 11-4 win. Newest Dodger David Freese got his first homerun in an L.A. uniform in the fourth, and a fielding error allowed Enrique Hernandez to score in the same inning to tie the game.

The floodgates opened in the 7th, with the Dodgers up 5-4. The hit parade started with a Manny Machado double which the Dodgers continued to add on to, ending the inning up 11-4.

Another notable victory was a near-flawless bit of pitching by switch-pitcher Pat Venditte, who came in in the top of the ninth with bases loaded and no outs after Josh Fields gave up two singles and issued a walk.  Venditte got a fly-out, a strike out and another fly-out to finish off the Mets.

L.A. is currently a ½ game out of first behind the Rockies.

The series with the Mets wraps tonight; game time is 4:35 pm, PST.
