Wild Labor Day Weekend for L.A.

The Dodgers, and perhaps most notably Matt Kemp, had quite a Labor Day weekend despite dropping the first game against the Mets Monday night. Kemp played hero Saturday and Sunday to secure come-from-behind wins, with a three-run-jack Saturday in the eighth and a walk-off two-run double Sunday that missed leaving the park by inches.

Kemp looked to repeat the magic against the Mets Monday as L.A. trailed 4-2 in the ninth, but hit into a game-ending double play.

L.A. took three of four from Arizona, pushing Arizona out of the top spot and capturing the NL West lead, albeit for just a day. Colorado currently holds first place with the Dodgers just a ½ game back. Arizona currently sits at 1.5 games out of first.

The Dodgers face the Mets for two more in Los Angeles before heading to Colorado for what will be three more pivotal games in the NL West race. Questions still remain as to Kenley Jansen’s availability for the games in Colorado as he has had issues there due to the altitude and an irregular heartbeat.

24 games remain in the regular season. Game time tonight versus the Mets is 7:10 pm, PST.

Two homeruns, one from each team accounted for all the runs in Thursday night’s matchup against Arizona.

Dodgers Drop First Game of Critical Series against AZ

The collective groan could be heard across Dodger’s fandom as the Mets went yard for two-run shots in back to back innings Tuesday night. Twitter was (likely) alight with “Fire Roberts” as the pessimistic among you assumed the worst, that the Dodgers were setting up to lose another game to the sub .500 New York Mets…
