Dodgers Miss Too Many Opportunities; Lose in Walk-Off to Eliminated D-Backs

Let’s not call it panic. Anxiety perhaps. There was talk of clenching in Arizona and perhaps another pool party (likely wouldn’t have happened even if L.A. had clenched.)

But no.

The Dodgers dropped a crucial game to the eliminated Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday night, AZ treating the walk-off like some spectacular division series or other crucial game. With another Colorado victory already recorded by the time the Dodgers were done, L.A.’s slim lead in the West is whittled down to a mere ½ game.

No one said it was going to be easy, especially considering the season the Dodgers have had so far, and suffice it to say every team in the west (especially – obviously – Colorado) would love nothing more than the Dodger’s domination of the West to come to an end this year.

The bats weren’t exactly flat last night – there was some clutch hitting in key situations, yet the Dodgers went 2 for 12 total with RISP, missing numerous chances to get and pad a significant lead in several situations.

With the game tied 3-3 in the ninth, Eduardo Escobar went deep to right off Kenta Maeda on a 3-2 pitch for the walk-off.

The Dodgers face Arizona for one more tonight before heading to San Francisco for the final three games of the regular season.

Game time tonight is 6:40 pm, PST.
