Game 26, 4/24/2024: Dodgers 11, Nationals 2

WASHINGTON, DC— The Los Angeles Dodgers, fresh off an opening series win against the Nationals, look to make it three wins in a row as they take on Nationals starter Jake Irvin, who shut the team out in his last start in LA.

The Dodgers would send Landon Knack on the bump, making his second career start and the first on the road. The Dodgers would opt with their left-handed heavy lineup, featuring a start from James Outman, who is steadily improving over his last seven games, hitting a .250 with four hits, an RBI, and a run scored in 7 games.

The Dodgers would start the game well after an Ohtani 115 mph double and a Will Smith RBI single. In just 2/3 of an inning, the Dodgers have done more damage to Jake Irvin than their last time facing him in LA.

The Dodgers’ offense was relentless off Irvin, pegging him for twelve hits and six runs in 4.2 innings on 103 pitches. However, even after Irvin’s night ended, the Dodgers continued to add on.

The Dodgers ended their night with a season-high twenty hits and eleven runs. Will Smith was one of many bright spots tonight, collecting four hits and driving in one.

Max Muncy also had a nice day at the plate, reaching base safely four times with two hits and two walks. However, the encouraging news was Gavin Lux collecting his first multihit game since the season’s fifth game.

The Dodgers’ pitching was exceptionally sharp tonight. Landon Knack pitched the team much-needed innings and collected the first win of his big league career.

Knack ended his day by going six strong innings, allowing two runs on three hits and being perfect after a hectic second inning. The Dodgers bullpen was terrific tonight, and they did so with only two arms.

Ryan Brasier pitched a scoreless seventh inning on ten pitches, and left-handed hybrid pitcher Ryan Yarbrough shut the door in the final two innings, giving the Dodgers their third win in a row.

The Dodgers are now 15-11 and will resume action tomorrow in Washington at 1:05 PM PT as they go for the series sweep. Yoshinobu Yamamoto will toe the rubber tomorrow against left-handed pitcher MacKenzie Gore
