Dodgers Host AL East Homestand

After a bumpy road trip that included a series loss to Atlanta, the Dodgers look to regain momentum during a three-game homestand against the 52-75 Blue Jays tonight followed by the much-anticipated series against the New York Yankees. The Yankees are 83-43 and hold a whopping 27-game lead over the 2nd place Tampa Bay Rays.

Although the Dodgers lost two of three in Atlanta, they are currently ranked #1 in the MLB Power Rankings, taking the lead spot from Houston despite the series loss. LA set an MLB record for most consecutive home runs in a five-game stretch  (22) last Friday. Cody Bellinger blasted number 42 on Sunday, putting him in the number 1 spot ahead of Mike Trout and Christian Yelich (41 a-piece… argh, just saw that Trout hit 42!) whilst keeping Bellinger squarely in the MVP conversation.

The Dodgers kick off the homestand against Toronto tonight with Clayton Kershaw matched up against Sean Reid-Foley. Walker Buehler and Kenta Maeda are slated for starts Wednesday and Thursday.

Julio Urias is currently serving a 20-game suspension for domestic violence.

After the series against the Yankees, the Dodgers cruise into September, finishing the regular season on the road in San Francisco.

Game time tonight vs the Blue Jays in 7:10 p.m., PST.
