Dodgers News: LA Inks Kelly to a one-year deal

The Dodgers have reportedly re-signed fan favorite Joe Kelly to a one-year contract.

The Dodgers had previously declined Kelly’s club option for $9.5 million. Instead, LA would pay Kelly the one million dollar buy-out, but Kelly and the Dodgers were rumored to be still interested in a reunion. In his return to LA, Kelly posted great numbers, having a 1.74 ERA, although he only pitched 10.1 innings due to an elbow injury.

The Dodgers’ 40-man roster is full after the Dodgers signed Jason Heyward back to a one-year deal last week. For the Kelly signing to be made official, the Dodgers must make room on their 40-man, whether through a trade, DFA, or release.

With the MLB Winter Meetings starting tomorrow, the Dodgers will have a lot of work to do, and freeing up a spot for Joe Kelly has just been added to the list. Here at DodgersBeat and the Bleed Los Podcast, we are ecstatic to have Kelly back for 2024.
