Dodgers News: Play-by-play man Joe Davis sidelined by Covid-19

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers announced today that broadcaster Joe Davis has tested positive for Covid-19. As such, he will be away from the microphone until he is cleared to return to the team. In addition, commentator Orel Hershiser will be quarantining for the near future until he too is cleared.

No Joe for a while….

This is the first publicized case to hit the Dodgers organization since the infamous Justin Turner brouhaha at the World Series. Davis has been fully vaccinated, and it is unclear if he is experiencing any symptoms. Plus, it is perhaps not as big a deal since neither Davis and Hershiser travel with the team on the road, so the chances of the infection leaking into the clubhouse is greatly reduced.

Dodgers coaches have stopped wearing masks during the games, as the team has reached the 85 % vaccination threshold.

We at DodgersBeat wish Joe a speedy recovery. In his absence, the game tonight will be called by Tim Neverett and Ned Coletti.
