Don Mattingly Still Dodgers Manager..For Now

After this weekends sweep in Atlanta at the hands of the Braves, there has been a lot of speculation that Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly would not survive the next few days. Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports is convinced the Ax will fall soon for LA’s Mattingly. It is no secret the Dodgers are off to a terrible start. Injuries have hurt the team, sluggish play and a bullpen that has seemingly fallen a part at the seams and leads the league with 13 loses. Today LA Times writer Bill Shakin reported that club officials say ‘No plans’ for Dodgers to fire Don Mattingly. It is May 20 and these next 3 games in Milwaukee are the biggest of the season for the Dodgers. If the Dodgers win the series it likely buys more time for Mattingly, but if the Dodgers lose it, anything is possible come Thursday.

Below is just some of the sentiment I have been getting from Fans on Twitter.

  1. I’m a die hard Dodger fan for 35 years. I wish they get swept by the Brewers just so Don will be gone. Include Colleti as well.

  2. Ned needs to go! McGuire needs to go! They were hitting better before McGuire! And start cleaning out the bullpen! Mattingly is not the problem!

  3. I keep going back to the same question … Who is going to replace him? Nobody ever has an answer to this. It won’t be LaRussa, Scioscia or Lasorda.
I agree with Colleti though, he should be gone.

  4. Mattingly has the stink of the Yankees on him, and worse, the odor of the McCourts. He has never been a manager and his qualifications for managing a team in the bigs is being a good guy, great ballplayer, and the sidekick/assistant to Joe Torre. He served no apprentice where he made decisions and his record with the Dodgers has left a lot lacking.

  5. Fire Mattingly and Colletti. Go after Billy Beane in the offseason and let him hire the next manager. Beane may be available, as it will keep him in California.

  6. Uribe, Gordon, Cruz, Hernandez…. Enough said… Nobody could win with these minor leaguers… Colletti is the architect, fire him
