Bats Go Flat as Dodgers Fall to Padres

The Dodgers dropped the 2nd game of a four-game series to the Padres Tuesday, failing to get a run on the board until the bottom of the ninth, on a solo shot from Max Muncy.

The Dodgers just couldn’t seem to figure out rookie pitcher Eric Lauer, who pitched one out short of a complete game and took a shutout into the ninth.

The Dodger’s bats were considerably cool, with Matt Kemp striking out all four at-bats. There were numerous hard-hit balls, but nothing seemed to go the Dodger’s way: Logan Forsythe was robbed of a double on an overturned call and Padre’s centerfielder Manual Margot made several impressive plays to rob the Dodgers of at least one hit, if not more.

One good inning was all the Padres needed, as Austin Hedges got a three-run shot off Rich Hill followed by a Wil Myers solo shot in the fifth.

The Dodgers lost, 4-1.

The series continues tonight in San Diego with Kenta Maeda (5-5, 3.24 ERA) set to face Joey Lucchesi (4-4, 3.27 ERA).

Game time is 7:10 pm, PST.
