Dodgers Bounce Back to Dominate the Padres

Clayton Kershaw’s record against San Diego says it all; the Dodgers pretty much own the Padres.

And the status quo remained intact Monday night as the Dodgers cruised almost flawlessly to an 8-2 victory. The only signs of life coming from the Padres in the bottom of the ninth inning as Dodger’s reliever Caleb Ferguson gave up a solo shot to Wil Myers and Eric Hosmer scored after a fielding error by Max Muncy.

With the victory the Dodgers are back within a half-game of first place.

Aside from Kershaw’s great night (he pitched six scoreless innings, struck out five and gave up one walk) the oft-missed Andrew Toles made quite a showing in his first Major League game of the season. Toles replaced the DL’d Yasiel Puig, and was intentionally walked, doubled and went on to score on a close throw at home.

The Dodgers face the Padres again tonight in San Diego. Game time is 7:10 pm, PST.
