Another Walk Off as Dodgers Continue Tear

In what has almost become to be expected, the Dodgers took the final game of a four-game series against the Padres Sunday in a 9th inning walk off double from Max Muncy, taking three of four and further cementing the Dodgers dominance in the NL West. Los Angeles has a 17-game lead over the 2nd place Diamondbacks/Giants (tied) and are tied with the Yankees for the best record in Major League Baseball (.649).

Despite a bevy of injuries on the field (Enrique Hernandez, Chris Taylor, David Freese) and the mound (Hyun-Jin Ryu, Rich Hill, Ross Stripling) the Dodgers depth has kept them on track, with newcomers Kristopher Negron (recently traded from Seattle) and Tyler White (traded from Houston) contributing in early appearances. And despite giving up the only loss to San Diego in this latest four-game series, pitcher Dustin May made a solid MLB debut.

Taylor and Hernandez should be starting minor league rehab assignments as early as next weekend. Freese will not be activated until September 1st (likely a precautionary move to have him ready for post-season play.) Ryu is slated to start against Arizona August 11th while Stripling will pitch a rehab assignment Tuesday. Hill is currently on the 60 day IL.

The Dodgers continue the long home stand tonight, starting a three-game series against Saint Louis followed by three against Arizona before heading out to the East coast. August 23rd marks the highly anticipated home stand against the New York Yankees, in what could be a glimpse at a possible World Series matchup.

  1. I give more of the credit to Seager, he ran all the way from first base to score the winning run. Hero’s are all around. Sometimes they’re all hitting and sometimes 1 or 2. They don’t use all the basics of Baseball and that hurts them at times. If they would use more basics or fundamental rules of the game they may look better than what they are.
