Dodgers News: Dustin May out for the season

Before yesterday’s game, the Dodgers suffered another massive blow in their pitching department as it was announced that RHP Dustin May would miss the rest of the season with Flexor Tendon Surgery. May last season came back after rehabbing his Tommy John surgery, and he will now suffer another setback in his career, and you cannot help but feel bad for him.

It is also interesting to note that with the flexor tendon surgery, they will also undergo a revision on his recent Tommy John surgery, which could derail his potential return longer or even derail his entire career.

May was 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA this season and was one of the Dodgers’ most dependable starters this year, and with the pitching struggling like it has been, the Dodgers were hoping to get him back sometime after the All-Star break. However, now he will miss the rest of this season and the start of the 2024 season as well.

May, who was off to a great start this season when he was a central piece in the rotation, saw the season derailed in a May start against the Twins, where he complained of elbow discomfort and saw his velocity down. The Dodgers pulled the starter, and he would then be shut down indefinitely.

The Dodgers, who are already down Noah Syndergaard, Clayton Kershaw, Ryan Pepiot, and Julio Urías, who has been a shell of himself this year, will need to start pitching at this year’s deadline.
