Julio Urias addresses the media after his first outing and answered a few questions from the possibility of fans returning to the stands on a limited capacity, how he felt going back out on the hill since pitching the final out at the 2020 World Series, his dad’s tattoo and more.

On Dave Roberts saying Urias hasn’t been in this good of shape since he’s been manager: “All the years you have to put in work during the offseason, it’s what I do to… I prepare myself in the best way possible to come to spring training in the best shape possible and obviously the teams first impression means a lot so I prefer to come well prepared and be ready for the season.”

On anything specific Julio likes about pitching out of the stretch and why did he decide to do that in his starts: “For me, it’s an adjustment that I feel more comfortable with, it’s what I’ve been working with my coaching and training staff that helped a lot since last year with a lot different exercises for me and I feel a lot more comfortable with.”

On his first outing, how did he felt: ” I felt good, not the outing I was hoping for but I felt good my body felt good. I felt the ball was leaving my arm good and I felt good.”

On the possibility of having fans back at Dodger stadium on a limited capacity in time to celebrate the 2020 ring ceremony: “The ones that can be allowed due to the state rules will definitely enjoy celebrating with us. We have to respect the rules, we would love to celebrate with everyone but rules are rules and we have to respect them.”

On the story behind the tattoo Julio’s dad had done: “It was his idea (Julio’s dad) I remember when I first had mine done (tattoos) he was not to fond of them but now that we won the championship… I remember as a child him being my coach and I feel blessed that I had him coach me up until the age of 16. We won numerous trophies and he says, this championship is the most important one to us as both a team and a family and him being a baseball fan it was a no brainer for him to get the trophy to always have with him.”

On if Julio wins another championship this season, would Julio’s dad consider getting a tattoo on the other arm: “My dad said yes so let’s hope we win another one again this year”

On pitching so well out of the bullpen in the post season last year, are there concerns on a role change and pitching out of the bullpen in 2021: “Like all the years I always come ready for anything, those decisions are not for me to make. I’ll always to ready, whether they have me start or come out of the bullpen. Simply I know to give 100 percent and also focus as much as possible on my throws and come out happy after every outing doesn’t matter if it’s a good outing or a bad one as long as I learn and grown for every single one of them.”

We look forward to seeing more from Julio Urias as well as the rest of the Dodgers rotation this spring training. For more Dodgers news make sure you follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook!
