Dodgers News: Team unveils jersey patch to honor Vin

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The Dodgers, still in a bit of mourning after the news of the passing of Vin Scully, announced on Wednesday that the team will be wearing special jersey patches in honor of the legendary play-by-play man.

Classy tribute to the GOAT…

Scully, who started his unprecedented 67-year tenure with the team back in Brooklyn, died on Tuesday at the age of 94. He retired from broadcasting in 2016.

This marks the second straight season that the Dodgers have worn a uniform patch to honor a fallen hero. In 2021, the Dodgers wore two different patches, one for Tommy Lasorda and the other for pitcher Don Sutton, both of whom passed away before the season began.

The Scully patch is understated, yet elegant. A circle of Dodger blue encircles a field of black. Inside the field is simply the word “VIN” in all capital letters and an old-time broadcast microphone.

The team has also promised some sort of memorial prior to the Dodgers next home game, Friday against the Padres.

RIP, Vin.
