Dodgers Farm: Dodgers Affiliates win 3 of 4 series openers

The regular season started for the four Dodger affiliate teams last week, and they did not disappoint. The four teams are Triple-A Oklahoma City Club, Double-A Tulsa Drillers, High-A Great Lake Loons, and Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

OKC finishes their 6-game home series against Albuquerque Isotopes with 5 wins and 1 loss. The offense got started after struggling against Tacoma. In the first nine games of the season, OKC sits at first place in PCL East. Miguel Vargas found his swing and ended the six-game series 10H / 3HR / 15RBI / .294AVG / .405OBP / 1.023OPS. SS Trey Sweeney got his first home run since coming to the Dodgers, and he finished with 9R / 8H / 1HR / 5RBI /.308AVG / .538OBP / 1.076.

The big story was highly rated RF Andy Pages hitting his first homerun. After an impressive Spring Training, Pages ended the six-game series with some good numbers: 9R / 10H / 1HR / 3RBI / .270AVG / .372OBP / .804OPS. Other standouts were LF Ryan Ward, CF Drew Avans, and 1B Kevin Padlo finding his hitting ways.

Tulsa Drillers went on the road and swept their three-game series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Tulsa finished the series 3-0 and second in the TEX North. SS Taylor Young was the biggest standout of the series, and Young ended the series with 3R / 1HR / 3RBI / .333AVG / .500OBP / 1.167OPS. Spring Training standout CF Jose Ramos blasted his first home run of the season and ended the series 5R / 5H / 1HR / 4 RBI / .333AVG / .375OBP / .975OPS.

Top rated Dodgers prospect C Dalton Rushing had a good series, Dalton had a couple of extra base hits and finished the series 2R / 4H / 3RBI / .267AVG / .353OBP / .886OPS. Other standouts for the Drillers were 1B Griffin Lockwood-Powell, LF Brendon Davis, and DH Austin Beck.

Great Lake Loons were on the road and played a three-game series against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. The Loons took the series two games to one and travel back home for their six-game home opener against Lansing. SS Noah Miller was the big standout for the Loons. Miller hit a walk-off single, scoring the final run-in overtime in game one. Miller finished the series with 1R/3H/2 RBI/.300AVG/.328OBP/.800OPS. Other standouts for the Loons were CF Dylan Cambell, 3B Kyle Nevin, and SS Jordan Thompson.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes go on the road to start their season against Lake Elsinore. Rancho lost two out of three games to end the series 1-2 and third in CAL South. The Quakes put on a hitting display today, with OF Zyhir Hope leading the team. In Hope’s first three games, he ends the series 5H / 5R / 3HR / 5RBI / .417AVG / .533OBP / 1.783OPS. 2B Oswaldo De Jesus Osorio also stood out with 2R / 2H / 1HR / 3RBI / .667AVG / .800 OBP / 2.467OPS. C Jesus Galiz smashed his first home run and ended the series 2R / 2H / 1HR / 3RBI / .250AVG / .455OBP / 1.205OPS.

Top prospect Josue De Paula had a good series 3R / 3H / 4RBI / .214AVG / .313OBP / .599OPS. Speedster Kendall George was getting started, then went out of game two with hamstring discomfort. There has been no information on the status of George.

All four Dodgers affiliates have some good offensive weapons. Each team will be very exciting to watch, and scoring should not be a problem.
